congrats Star Ananda!!!

Nowadays, we frequently ask a question to ourselves: is media anymore ethical? Do they know what their responsibilities are? Even a couple of months ago we had a group discussion in our soft skill class. Where people discussed the terrorist attacks on Mumbai and media’s role in telecasting that.
This evening I stumbled upon Star Ananda, a popular Bengali news channel. They were broadcasting something exclusive. Something which nobody did in the last 3 decades. They finally managed to get a small video clip of Suchitra Sen. They finally found out how SHE looks now. And they broadcasted it.
Suchitra Sen, perhaps the most famous and glamorous heroine the Bengali film industry has ever seen. But SHE decided to be out of reach. That also increased her aura. How SHE has withdrawn herself only increased her charm.
I understood the importance of TRP. I have also seen the part that Star Ananda showed where they aired the comment of an expert who said that they can’t be sued as SHE has never imposed any ban on anyone telecasting her pictures. How does it matter that people think they are safe when they are inside their house.
So Star is safe. And they are probably now celebrating their success. But I beg to differ. I am not going to accept it as success. Couldn’t we respect someone’s personal choice? It’s a question media needs to answer.
The channel had a pole on their website today. Where they said that only they have HER photos. But she isn’t willing to come in front of public anymore. And are we interested to see those pics?
42% people said yes they want to see it. But 58% clicked on NO. It’s a rare instance when I’m delighted to be a part of a percentage. The 58%.

Hi, I myself do not support this at all. The media has split water on her almost 30 years of austerity and effort of being unseen. They could have telecast it when she was no long there to see her efforts being wasted by an in-human spy. Is it really a great way of showing respect by hurting someone to the core? Why are people becoming so insensitive?

Being a die-hard fan of her, I am hurt and disgusted to the core. Star Ananda has a notorious reputation of attempting such senseless intrusion of the legend's privacy earlier also when she was admitted in Belle Vue Clinic and in several other instances.

What media should realize is that they are looked up to as the voice of the masses. The moment they fail to synchronize with the values of ordinary people and engage in cheap sting operations for increasing TRP's is when they become the subject of criticism themselves. It's really sad that today the media is a villain in the eyes of many owing to it's degenerating principles.

Can we not boycott Star Ananda and ABP for at least one day?Let's all cancel our subscription for ABP for one single days as a mark of protest and let them know WHY we r doing it.It would not make much of a difference to them, but at least we'd know that we'd tried to do something in protest of their shameful act.

Rightfully said Sir. Personal choice is of prime importance. Even the law permits privacy, which is of utmost importance. I just imagine if some one fits a camera in the Star Ananda's bathroom to take up the pics of their asses, which no one in any decade has ever done!!! I would be proud!

I wouldn't even want to do that. The very thought of Star Ananda and the whole ABP group (with the exception of The Telegraph)makes me throw up,let alone their asses!

Star Ananda hs nt done the justice to Suchitra Sen by intruding her recent life which she does not like. As a respected yesteryear celebrity,we should not do anything against her desire. I strongly comdemn the thief like attitude of Star Ananda in this regard. Most probably Mrs. Sen gt hurt like anything.

Yes, its sad and its called yellow journalism. Electronic media in India is in premature state. It will take years to grow and be sensible and sensitive. And that can happen only when citizen and creative people like us take strong action against them.
