yesterday i was chatting with my 10 year old cousin vikram. the puja air is on. so he asked me 'bout maa durga. i told him the myth of her creation, the fight with mahisasura-the demon, birth of Kali and lots of othewr things. he listened. and then he questioned again. guess what the question was........
vikram asked me,"is it true that Dumbledore has been killed in the latest harry potter book?"
Maa Durga!! after mahisasura, now you have to fight harry potter ......... for popularity!!!!!!!!!

That was indeed funny. It reminded me of reading how growing up without exposure to moralistic and fabulous lore dents the creativity of today's children. If our ancient scriptures arent cool enough for them , ergo i guess we should be thankful to the likes of Potter ;-)
Our folklore and mythology has its interesting twists and turns to be much ahead of any bored housewife's creativity. Only that we need to repackage the whole stuff all over again. The shoddy mythological serials on television have already done enough damage.
Maa Durga and harry potter ... hahaha
